Speak Up

Justice.  A voice for one who has no voice.
Justice speaks for those who cannot speak for themselves.
Like the preschooler, yearning for acceptance and love, left by his mother when she chose a life of drugs instead of motherhood.
Justice speaks for the kindergartner longing for protection, who has nightmares of his toddlerhood of starvation and horrors;
for the young girl, crying for freedom, who was sold as a slave so her family could eat;
for the child, searching for a mother’s love, who was discarded as an infant in a city park because of her gender;
for the escaped child solider, pleading for redemption, who has no where to call home except a prison for abandoned children forgotten and languishing.
Justice.  It brings hope to those who have none.
But only if we – who can speak, who can love, who can share, who are safe – remain silent no longer.  Justice only comes, one step at a time, when we, as one body in Christ the head, quiet no more, walk in obedience to His Word, for the sake of all who are destitute.
Lord, help us help them.  In Jesus name.
“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; for the rights of all who are destitute.  Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”  Prov. 31:8-9
